In 1985 I officially joined the ranks of the self-employed. Since then I have faced every day with as much enthusiasm and honesty as I could muster. Along the way I have enjoyed the company of a wide variety of clients, mentors, and friends. During that time, one point has been proven over and over again. There is a narrow path that I will refer to as “the right way to do business.”
It’s certainly not an easy path. In fact, it is often lonely and desolate. As you watch others take shortcuts that propel them to sudden success, you might second guess your choice of integrity. Still you persevere. Over time the small deposits of momentum compound into prosperity. Ultimately the path that once felt oppressive, yields rewards in ways few people have dared imagine.
If the earlier description sounds too discouraging, perhaps this is the time to reconsider the commitment in your heart. Is your commitment to real success as strong as it needs to be?
